It's the end of a year, and the start of a new year, so it must be time for the annual best of/worst of, and top 10 lists.
There is certainly no dearth of such lists since everyone has an opinion about everyone else.
Of course this makes for interesting speculation as to who really is in and who' s out in the celebrity world.
Not surprisingly Britney Spears, was named the top star by "Access Hollywood," based on the record number stories, 119, devoted to her. After all, not many people, including Elizabeth Taylor, in her heyday, get married twice in the same year.
Next on the list is Beyonce, with 102 stories, followed by Donald Trump, 94, Michael Jackson, 84; Tom Cruise, 72, Jessica Simpson, 69; Paris Hilton, 63, Nicole Kidman, 62, Jennifer Lopez 54, and rounding out the Top Ten was the venerable Whitney Houston with 52 stories.
If you're interested in what "Recordonline.com," has to say about:
The best TV shows of 2004
The best movies of 2004
The best DVDs of 2004
The best albums of 2004
The best local shows of 2004
The best concert tours of 2004
The best dishes of 2004
The best songs of 2004
When it comes to movies it's strictly a subjective matter, as you can see by the varied opinions of these highly respected sources:
"Newsweek."
"ABC Online Film Reviews."
"666 ABC Canberra."
"MSNBC News."
Here's a list of this year's celebrity winners and losers that I agree with:
Winner: Jessica Simpson, despite a lack of talent
Loser: Ashlee Simpson, because of a lack of talent
Winner: Spider-Man
Loser: Catwoman

Loser: Jason Allen Alexander, Britney Spears' '2 minute squeeze
Winner: P. Diddy, who ran the New York City Marathon
Loser: P. Diddy, whose "Vote Or Die" campaign flopped

For something positive "Contactmusic.com" gives us it's opinion on who the nicest celebrities are.
Even the highly esteemed magazine, "Forbes,"
has reviewed the celebrity world and published a year end report on scandals of note among the rich and powerful.
We can't forget the political scene either. New Jersey's Governor, James McGreevey, came out of the closet, as I reported here.
However, not all political scandals revolve around sex, although Neil Bush did ring in with the revelation that he made a boo-boo in 2003.
The "L.A. Weekly" profiles the top political scandals here.
Last but not least are the fashion statements, good or bad, made by the stars.
Here's Hillary Alexander's interesting take on which women had the biggest impact on fashion in 2004, in the
"Fashion.Telegraph."
How about some New Year's Resolutions? I stopped making them, actually I only had one, when I realized that, "getting rich," was more of a wish than an attainable goal.
However here's the "Denver Post's," Ed Barks' suggestions for some prominent celebrities.
Once again, thanks for checking out my blog.
I hope you've enjoyed my postings this year, and will continue visiting, and telling your friends about "The Celebrities Weblog."
Have a great and safe time ringing in 2005!
Best Wishes, Jim
