What timing, just after the Federal Income tax filing deadline, Wesley Snipes draws 3 years hard time for "willfully failing to file tax returns...."

Like most, if not all, people, I'm no fan of taxes, but unfortunately everyone has to pay them. Even the criminal maven Myer Lansky said, "Always pay your taxes", and he wasn't afraid of anyone.

While I don't condone any form of criminal behavior I do feel that punishments should match the seriousness of the crime.

Snipes' committed 3 white collar, non-violent misdemeanors for criminny's sakes, not bloody felonies, and he gets 3 years, for a first time offender.

The Feds admitted that they wanted to make an example of him; and the judge accommodated them by slapping Snipes with the maximum sentence.

That just doesn't strike me as right, especially when vicious felons are given lighter sentences for rapes, shootings and beatings that result in paralysis and loss of intellectual powers in the victims.
