TITILLATING TV

It's time for the Sopranos to do their thing again. More back stabbing, more talk of family values, and I'm sure, an overly hysterical Edie Falco, delivering her lines at the top of her lungs to a disinterested Tony. Mingya, can that woman yell!
So, another season of James Gandolfini, looking all big and bad in this photo, guiding his crime family through the complex maze of the underworld, where looking over one's shoulder is de rigueur.
Gandolfini is from Westwood, New Jersey, which is located in the northeastern part of the state, near the border with New York State.
Those of us who are from the more urbanized areas, consider the hilly, rather scenic terrain found there to be, "the country." Westwood is more suitable for deer, rather than human hunting, as is the case in my old haunts.
But, James looks the part of a Mafia guy, and is convincing in the role, which is a tribute to his acting skills, rather than the environment in which he grew up.
I grew up amongst guys who looked, and acted as he does on, "The Sopranos," all of whom, when they met their maker, were said to have died of natural causes, because a bullet or a knife stopped their hearts from beating.
One of "blocks," I lived on, which is what we called neighborhoods, had an interesting mix of residents. A minor mob figure lived next door to us, and a prominent police Captain lived in the house on other side of his house.
The police photographer lived across the street, and two firemen lived up the block. A few other people lived there too, but they didn't count, because they weren't Italian.
It was a short block, a dead-end actually, and was one of the quietest, safest places in town, because no one wanted to cross any of these guys, or my father, a former small-time boxer, or me, once I attained my full size and weight.
Anyway, this Sunday, "The Sopranos" returns on HBO, for what is supposed to be its last season.
It will be interesting to see if Tony attains his dream of becoming the Capo Di Tutti Capi (Head of all the Heads), or ends up swimming with the fishes.
Oh, here's Tony again!
