The first skinny celebrity I recall was, Twiggy, shown above.

When she first hit the scene in the mid-60's her 90 or so pound frame sent shockwaves around the world and women either admired, or hated her. I guess this is no different than today's women' s opinion of the current crop of anorexic models and actresses.

Twiggy was small of stature and naturally thin, and was able to model the latest fashions with ease. She was also a one off, and stood out because of her unique looks. She did look vibrant and healthy though, not like a burned out junkie.

The trend now, however, seems more along the lines of who can become thin enough so as to be able to hide behind a sign pole. It's more of a competition without a purpose other than to outdo the other chicks.

Certainly, as I reported in "Lindsay Lohan Looking Lousy Lately," there was no reason whatsoever for Lohan to drop any weight at all, other than to keep up with this ridiculous trend.

Now pop singer, Dido, who isn' t exactly a candidate for Weight Watchers, has lashed out at her fellow celebs who are playing the "I'm on a diet until I disappear," game.

As for me, I'm going food shopping now for the Fourth of July weekend! It's not really for me, I just do the cooking; my wife and mother-in-law eat a lot.
