SHOVELING THE SOS

That's right, Hollywood is shoveling the same old stories at us this summer, and the same old plots.

I don't know how well these will fare at the box office but if a past remake, such as "Diabolique," is an indicator, despite having the sultry Sharon Stone in the lead, these movies could be headed for bombdom.

But what do I know? Hollywood seems intent on churning them out, hoping that star power and updated storylines will carry them, and maybe they will.

Check out, "The Stepford Wives," starring Nicole Kidman, which opens today, and, "Around The World In 80 Days," which opens on June 16, and features Jackie Chan, Kathy Bates, John Cleese, and a pre-Governor arnold schwarzenegger.

"King Arthur" opens on July 7 with Clive Owen in the title role, and "The Manchurian Candidate" opens on July 30 and is highly updated.

The original movie, which starred Frank Sinatra, was owned by him and his daughter, Tina, is overseeing the remake.

I still think the plot behind reusing these old plots is Hollywood's way of not paying writers, such as yours truly, for new scripts.

Hey, maybe there's a story there?
