Here is the Wikipedia definition of a sex symbol:

"A sex symbol is a famous and/or notable person, male or female, who is found sexually attractive by the general audience. The term was first used circa 1911."

Coincidentally, that is the year that Jean Harlow, one of the earliest sex symbols, was born.

The picture of her was probably taken around 1932, and although quite racy for its time, it pales by comparison to current "cheesecake" photos.

It's said that beauty, "is in the eye of the beholder," and indeed it is. If everyone liked the same "look," there would be only one "look" for women, and one "look" for men, and we'd all be happy with each other's appearance. If this was the case there wouldn't be a need for different hairstyles, or fashions, and the cosmetics and plastic surgery industries wouldn't exist.

What a boring world it would be.

So who is the world's sexiest woman? Well, like most things that depends on a lot of factors.

For many, it is a gal named, Aishwarya, and I have to confess that I was unaware of this beauty until just recently, sign of age I guess.

There are 18,000 fan websites devoted to her, which is amazing, for someone not connected to Hollywood.

There was a contest recently, which determined, by fan votes, who has the sexiest, most desirable body. Needless to say, other world-class beauties such as Angelina Jolie, were in the running.

Oh yeah, for those who care about such things the contest also determined who has the sexiest male body, so Angelina was actually pitted, pardon the pun, against Brad Pitt.

So who's my choice? Salma Hayek, hands down. I can't help it; I just love her hair, it reminds me of my wife's.
