Ah, TV commercials, the price we all pay for our "free" TV channels.
Do you love them or hate them?
I can't stand stupid, loud, long, or repetitive commercials. I've just about given up on most major sports events because of the incredible amount of commercials, sometimes after each play, which makes it seem as if I'm watching clips, rather than an actual game.
However there are some gems out there, even if few and far between.
The "Carl's Jr." commercial, featuring Paris Hilton paying homage to a hamburger, certainly got my attention. Unfortunately a few people were offended by it, the same people who feign offense at anything fun, and it was yanked.
Years ago, I saw a program about foreign TV commercials, and they were hilarious, especially the ones from Ireland. If American TV executives had the brains, and the balls, to fashion their offerings after the Europeans, I think viewers would look forward to watching commercials.
Now, we have something coming up that isn't exactly new, but in a way it is.
Viewers in Great Britain will soon be watching live TV commercials.
Time will tell if this new approach to marketing is successful. At least it will be different, and that alone should provide interest.
