Say what you will about gossip columnists but for a while now you're likely to get more accurate news from supermarket rags than the mainstream media.
The 24/7 TV news cycle has devolved into nothing more than a hodgepodge of editorials masquerading as reporting as the TV networks compete for viewers and offer more opinion than fact.
The John Edwards – rielle hunter affair is an excellent example of this because nearly a year ago the "National Enquirer" ran a story about it but was largely ignored because if its status as a gossip magazine.
Magazines like the National Enquirer make no bones about "paying for actual gossip stories", which frankly, even though I'm not a reader of the tabloids, I find to be more honorable than the mainstream media's practice of manufacturing news.
