This is getting ridiculous.
Michael Jackson, looking like a Las Vegas valet car parking attendant who posed for a picture with Britney Spears, is found innocent of child molestation charges.
Then two of the jurors, who already announced their intention to write books, declare that now they feel he's guilty.
Then, Joseph Bartucci, through his smarmy lawyer, states that Jackson molested him, in 1984.
Now, I'm not a psychiatrist, and, despite being told many times that I should, I've never been treated by one, so my knowledge of them is limited.
I have, however, had more dealings with lawyers than I care to recall, and as a group, I'm in no way enamored of them.
I'm a writer so I know a bit about the book publishing industry, and what sells, is what's published, regardless of its worth.
So, what we have, in my opinion, is another case of a lawyer, grabbing a chance to hit it big.
The books, if they are published, will serve as fodder for the press to speculate on Jackson' s guilt or innocence in past cases.
The shrink will say that his patient's repressed memories were revived by the recent trial. The lawyer, well, he'll do what they all do, he'll practice his craft with the usual combination of 80% lying and 20% acting. The jury, if the case gets that far, will feel that they have to right the wrong of the previous case.
No one could hate a child molester, or any type of sex offender more than me, but despite Jacko being Wacko, this is so obvious a case of a shot in the dark attempt at extortion it makes me sick.
So far Jackson's attorneys say they have evidence placing him in a location other than with Bartucci on the date in question.
We'll see how this all plays out in due course.
