"Oops, I did it again," as Britney might say, but it's Madonna who did it again.
Madonna's, "Papa Don't Preach," released in 1986, was number 1 in England, but did not quite catch on in the Vatican City.
My God, can you believe that was 20 years ago? Jeez, I was a mere boy then!
Now, her "Confessions" tour includes a mock crucifixion scene, which has angered various Church groups.
Madonna who often uses symbolism to bring attention to various causes, features a counter tallying the number of African kids orphaned due to AIDS, in her current show.
Religious zealots, who hold all religious symbols as sacrosanct, and exclusive to their business purposes, have demanded that Madonna withdraw from further religious references in her work.
In response, Madonna stated that she thought that Jesus, would approve of her actions.
Madonna also hurled obscenities at an image of President Bush to express displeasure at the war in Iraq.
What I find interesting about all of this is that self-proclaimed, "religious," people, maintain that they can criticize anyone and everyone who upsets them, but do not feel that they should be subject to criticism regarding their views.
In the show business world, "Any publicity is good publicity," and, as always, Madonna will emerge on top in this latest conflict.
