Madonna, whose birth name is Madonna Louise Ciccone, has renamed herself Esther.

Besides changing her appearance at a pace that even a chameleon would envy, the aging pop singer, is now changing religions by delving into mysticism via the trendy offshoot of Judaism called "Kaballah."

The biblical "Esther" was Queen of Persia name, and the name itself means "Star."

Did you really think the Diva's diva would assume a less regal title? But then, the Material Girl seems to sway a bit when it comes to names. Her daughter, Lourdes, is named for a city in France, and her son is named Rocco, possibly after a pizza tosser in New Jersey.

Her invitation to go along with the fad did not sit well with Gwyneth Paltrow who refused to join the Kaballah Klub. This in turn miffed her highness who is used to getting her own way, and rumor has it that their friendship is no more.

She has convinced Mensa candidate Britney Spears to go along but failed to sign up Kelly Brooke however.

Madonna is currently on tour and collapsed after a performance in Anaheim, Ca. on June 12th.

Perhaps trying to keep up with the likes of Christina aguilera, being a wife and mother, trying to be a passable Z list actress, writing children's books, supposedly writing two books about Kaballah, and being a bitch extraordinaire, and who knows what else, in an effort to appear fashionable and stay atop the headlines is a bit much, despite her yoga lessons and Pilate classes.
