Never let it be said that Las Vegas Mayor, Oscar Goodman, shown here in his secret underground bunker controlling the city, isn't generous.
Goodman was taken to task a few months ago because of his answer to the question: "What is the one thing you' d take to a deserted island?"
The outspoken, former mob defense attorney' s response was: "A bottle of gin."
Kudos for being honest, but the problem was that a grammar school student posed the question during an official visit by the Mayor.
My hat is off to him for telling the City Council to take a hike when the members chastised him for the remark. Goodman said he is a "Two fisted, gambler, drinker and worker, and I should not be criticized for my honesty."
Mayor Goodman recently began endorsing Bombay Sapphire gin and last week he donated $100,000.00 of his earnings to The Lou Ruvo Alzheimer's Institute, which will be built in Las Vegas.
Fittingly enough Goodman pledged the gift while presiding over the opening of downtown Las Vegas newest bar, the "Side Bar."
Here' s a website that is maintained by a fellow Las Vegan, and acquaintance of mine, and is all about Mayor Goodman, an interesting fellow indeed.
