LANCE ARMSTRONG IS BACK IN TRAINING

Iron man, cancer survivor, 7 time Tour De France winner, and all around stud of the century, Lance Armstrong, is taking on another challenge.
When Michael Jordan retired Lance Armstrong remained as the only living athlete for whom I had any real respect. Yeah, there's a couple of guys out there whose accomplishments I admire, but not at the level of Jordan and Armstrong.
Of course there are loads of lady athletes I have respect for but the line between sports and prurient interest gets blurred for me.
Armstrong is back in training for another long-distance race, but this time he won't be pushing pedals. He hopes to complete, and I emphasize the word, "complete," the New York City Marathon.
Years ago, before sports, particularly amateur sports, became nothing more than corporate sponsored advertising blitzes; I was a fan of almost any kind of athletic competition. I recall during the days of Frank Shorter's reign as a marathoner, it was always said that no one entered a marathon to try to win it, but rather to try to complete it.
That is exactly what Lance has said his goal is as this article reports.
I'll be tuning in this November to see if this remarkable guy can accomplish his goal, and perhaps attract more support for his cancer foundation.
