It must be summer, not because it's hot, but because John Mellencamp, the rock/folk/country music icon, has emerged from his winter hibernation, as he does every year, to co-host "Farm Aid".

As usual, good ole boy, Willie Nelson, will be there to lend his support to America's family farmers, which are dwindling in numbers as corporate America takes over the food supply, along with everything else.

Prior to that event which is on September 9, and in keeping with the patriotic theme, Mellencamp will be on board for this year's de facto Fourth of July celebration with "The Boston Pops".
