Most celebrities have a pet cause to which they donate time and or money.
Celebrities typically endorse the most popular charities, those that benefit children or disease research, but there are those who support PETA and other lesser-known organizations.
The "Poverty-Environment Partnership" is one such charitable organization, and has sponsors such as actress Rosario Dawson,

and business magnate Ted Turner.

Here's the organization' s website.
The environment is under attack the world over and poverty can be found everywhere.
Those who thought the United States was free of such problems now know better in the wake of Hurricane Katrina' s aftermath.
This natural disaster, which exposed the extent of the poverty suffered by many of the storm's victims and the toxic waste dump that used to be a vacationer's destination, prove that no one and no place on Earth is free of these problems.
While we can't prevent hurricanes and other natural phenomena from wreaking havoc we should all do our part to lessen the impact of such disasters, and prevent those that are man-made.
It's refreshing to see such high-profile celebrities contributing to the effort without seeking excessive publicity in the process.
So who's the gal in the uppermost photo?
That's none other than yours truly's reason for living, my wife, Dolores, posing on a Carmel, California street that she's sure was named for her.
Notice the lush green, Spring foliage, and let's hope that the Earth continues to produce more of it.
