I don't like award shows, especially the Oscars.
All the silly rhetoric and phony interplay between people who would rather be somewhere else annoys me, as does the juicy voiced announcers who introduce everyone and anyone as if he or she was God's gift to mankind. It annoys me that as soon as someone from the audience jumps up and does a mad dash to answer a call of nature a "filler", immediately occupies the vacant seat so as to give the illusion that everyone is glued to their seats.
I hate it when the nominees are announced, and put on camera, so they can form a smile on their faces that remains frozen in place long after the winner is announced.
Once, just once, I'd like to see a loser express anger or at least disappointment, at his or her loss, maybe even utter a profanity or flip the bird at the winner.
You know they want to do it.
I'm the male "head of household" in my house, and that means that I get to do what my wife tells me to do. So when the Emmys or the Oscars come on, that's what comes on the TV, and I'm banished to another room, so she doesn't have to endure my whining.
She agrees with all of the above, especially the part that says she's the boss. I don't mind that, she's smarter than me, or so I've heard, but despite her agreement with my criticisms of award shows, she still watches them.
Why? Well, she watches them because she's a big fan of fashion, and award shows offer the primo opportunity to see the best, and the worst of fashion.
Check out Imogen Heap above, from this year's Grammy's. She looks like a heap of laundry to me.
So, without further delay, here are two websites with plenty of Grammy photos for you to admire, or laugh at:
