MOVIE MATTERS

The gossip rags report on how well, or poorly, celebrities treat common folk such as food servers. But can they be trusted to tell the truth?
Unless you personally know someone who has served a celebrity you can't really be certain as to how accurate the reports are.
So how about hearing it straight from the horse' s mouth?
My wife has a friend who did occasional work in TV commercials, and product modeling, and for a while had a night job in an upscale Las Vegas steak house. She was a sort of wine steward I believe, and a few years back a call came in that Mariah Carey would be arriving, within a half hour, with a large party.
Several hours later, long after closing time, the Carey crowd arrived and partied hardy for several hours.
The manager kept the entire crew on duty, and they were hopping into the wee hours of the morning, seeing to every whim Carey and her Entourage could dream up.
When they finally left, and cleanup ensued, it became apparent that the total tip amounted to zero, nada, zilch, not even so much as a thanks.
My wife's friend has since given up "show business," and started a small, but lucrative business of her own, and no longer has to depend on tips.
But, someone has to wait on tables and those who do tend to the celebrity crowd have lots of stories to tell.
Bill Murray is reportedly a superb tipper who tips the amount of the check!
However, Bill seems to be the exception rather than the rule, and now there's a website where food servers spill the beans on these characters.
Check out, "bitterwaitress.com," and see who' s generous and who's a skinflint.

Is it true? I adore Mariah Carey... I still can't believe that she is so insensitive or would I rather say, a very ungrateful one?

Oh it's true alright. But, a lot of people are like that, both celebrities, and not. I guess the only way to deal with it is to like the person for the things you admire about them and be disappointed in them for the things they do that you don't approve of. I found lots of celebrities I admire on the list of cheapskates at "bitterwaitress.com," but I guess it's a character flaw. I think that some of them are so used to receiving special treatment that they don't think of anyone else.

You are probably right. But then stars should still be on their right behaviors because they are always closely watched for by many.

Mariah Carey is one of the most princess-like celebrity .. she's too much into herself I think! She has a great voice indeed.. but she ain't superior!

This isn't true. Mariah was a waitress herself (many times!) and she's known as a big tipper, although she generally has an assistant pay the bill with her credit care. Probably the assistant forgot to put the tip on there. Mariah may be a diva, but she's not a nasty person.
