Cyndi Lauper is going to Broadway as "Jenny," a prostitute, for her stage debut.

She will appear in the popular play, "The Threepenny Opera," which is about a bunch of beggars, thieves, and prostitutes.

The song, Mack The Knife," popularized by Bobby Darin in 1959, is part of the score, and it should be interesting to see who gets to sing it.

2005 was a dismal year for Broadway, but the show must go on, and the Broadway bigwigs have lined up a bunch of celebrities, including Julia Roberts and Alex Baldwin, to star in new offerings as reported in the "NewYorkTimesLive.com."

We'll soon see if Cyndi Lauper and company can revive interest in the theatre.

  1. I love Cyndi Lauper. But I coud not picture her doing the role of a prostitute. But that will leave me wondering and be excited on seeing her do her thang on stage.
