The Venetian Hotel & Casino, right here in Vegas, hosted the Academy Awards of Porn, "The adult Video Awards," a few days ago.

The Venetian is a unique and great place, and I love it. It really does give one the impression that he or she is in Venice. It has canals running inside and out, a fantastic plaza out front, and great architecture all around.

I'm not a gambler, but I love The Venetian. I let my wife drive me and her mother over there as often as she wants me to take them to the free shows they run all day.

It's not that I' m cheap, but I always seem to have a better time at a free show. I don't know, maybe it's just me.

Anyway, these awards featured Heidi Fleiss, as I guess, a sort of Mistress Of Ceremonies, and the popular band, Smashmouth, along with others, provided the tunes.

Gene Simmons, along with his famous foot-long tongue, was in attendance, and rumor has it he received more than one proposition.

One of the headliners (pun intended) was former California Gubernatorial candidate, and always Porn Queen, Mary Carey, pictured above.

Some of the categories were, "Best Adaptation Of An Historical Drama," yeah right.

Actually the categories included the likes of: "Best Oral Themed Feature," much easier to understand, and judge.

The adult entertainment industry rakes in 12 billion bucks per year, so yes, this is big, big, business, and where else would you find it but in Vegas, where, as I like to say, anything can happen.

The event was held in conjunction with the Adult Industry Trade Show at the nearby Sands Expo Center.

The word on The Strip is that show officials intended to invite me but decided against it when they realized I might be a distraction to the actresses in attendance.

Oh well, maybe next year when I' m a little less sexy.
