No one is surprised when Oprah Winfrey comes out as number 1 on many of the lists of top earning celebrities because she's extremely likable and has been around for a long time.

But there are some stars, mostly on TV, who earn a lot more than you would think and some of them are relative newcomers to the celebrity game.

Tyra Banks is someone I didn't expect to be on this most recent list of top top TV earners, but she is. David Letterman is also on the list, and I find him rather boring, but I guess he has appeal to some.
