Republican politicians generally disdain celebrities and routinely refer to anyone in the limelight who opposes their views as "Hollywood Types."

Their reasoning is that celebrities are a bunch of dumb, lying, sensationalist, self-serving, publicity seeking neer-do-wells, who should be ignored.

When you think about it though, that's a pretty good description of most politicians.

Of course they do make exceptions for people like Ted Nugent, Fred Thompson, Chuck Norris, John Voight, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the late Sonny Bono and Ronald Reagan, Charlie Daniels, Rick Schroeder, Clint Black, Stephen Baldwin, Dennis Miller and any other backward looking celebrity who agrees with them.

But that's just political hypocrisy at its best.

Now however, the Republicans have a newly created celebrity in the form of Sarah Palin, the Governor of Alaska, who, until she was tabbed for the Republican Vice Presidential nomination a few days ago, was a virtual nobody in a remote, sparsely populated State.

But she's out there now, delivering speeches that were written for her, parading around on stage with her brood, and spouting jokes that require a reduction of one's IQ to appreciate.

If you think I'm being harsh on her consider this: Bill O'Reilly, a Fox News Republican/Conservative talk show host, who maintains a dim view of "Hollywood Types", commented earlier this year on Jamie-Lynn Spears' pregnancy.

He said it was her parent's fault, for failing to provide parental guidance, and he called them "Pinheads."

I suppose then, that in the mind of a staunch Conservative like Bill O'Reilly, especially since he touts himself as being "fair and balanced", one must assume that Sarah Palin is also a "Pinhead", since her teenage underage daughter is now knocked up.

In and of itself, the Palin kid pregnancy shouldn't matter, except that her Pinhead mother wants to be the second most powerful politician in our country.

If Sarah Palin, who is an opponent of sex education, can't keep her own daughter from, "getting into trouble", is she fit to lead the entire country?

Consider too that at least Jamie-Lynn Spears has already made more money, legitimately, than most of us will make in a lifetime, so she can afford a kid, the Palin kid can't.
